Post 54 solicits donations
for veterans

On Sunday, November 7, members of Post 54 met at the Jewel in Glen Ellyn to solicit donations for the post, giving donors a JWV poppy or wrist band in return.  The day was mostly sunny and pleasant for an early November day. Members Joel Bernstein, Larry Malis, John Wilkerson, Leslie Turner, Bruce Mayor, and Post Commander Howard Goldstein worked the several hours the post was present at the store.  Linda Mayor and Peggy McGrath, wives of members Bruce Mayor and Howard Goldstein, assisted in our efforts.

The bottom line: Post 54 collected $694 for its 4 hour effort.  Money that will be well used for veterans.

Also on November 7, Post 54 hosted the 9th grade class of Cong. Etz Chaim students at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Hillside.  Students placed U. S. flags on the graves of identified veterans. Following the placement of flags, post members spoke about their experiences in the service and answered questions.  This has become an almost annual event, having taken a year off for Covid restrictions.
